KEVIN CLARKE has been performing in the Bay Area since 1997. He is a company member of The Shotgun Players, Art Street Theatre and Chris Black Dance as well as a cofounder of the performance duo Hagen & Simone. He has been nominated for three Bay Area Critics' Circle Awards, a TBA Award and is a member of the Actors' Equity Association (AEA).
Most recently, Kevin was one of seven actors to learn every role in Hamlet, and then to perform any role at random as proscribed by an audience drawing five minutes before curtain. Kevin originated roles in several plays by Mark Jackson, including Salomania, God's Plot, The Forest War, The Death of Meyerhold, Don Juan, The Lost Plays of Jacques Du Bon Temps, Io Princess of Argos and Messenger #1. He directed Jackson in his one-man show, I Am Hamlet, and the two co-directed Faust Pt1, for which Kevin also designed costumes, weapons and blood effects. He also originated roles in Lauren Gunderson's Ada and the Memory Engine and Amelia Roper's She Rode Horses Like The Stock Exchange.
Alongside Monique Jenkinson, Kevin formed the maverick performance duo Hagen & Simone and created work together in theaters, nightclubs and store windows from 2001-2007. As ODC Theater Resident Artists, they created Future Perfect, a performance based on the eclectic memos of fashion grand dame Diana Vreeland and Strunk & White's The Elements of Style.
Kevin first hit the San Francisco stage in the dance work of Chris Black (formerly POTRZEBIE Dance Project) and continues to perform with the company, including site-specific work at The California Academy of Sciences and in city parks. He has performed with Joe Goode Performance Group, Huckabay McAllister Dance, OnSite Dance Co., SQUAD and Stephen Pelton Dance Theater.
Kevin appeared in several short films by Kia Simon, in Chris Mason Johnson' feature Test (2013 Grand Jury Prize at Outfits Los Angeles; 2014 John Cassavetes Award/Independent Spirit Awards nominee) and in Tom E. Brown's Pushing Dead, (Audience Award at Framline40).
